1500 Deaths Unremarked

Today the death toll of the Iraq debacle/quagmire reached 1500 soldiers. Most of those 1500 deaths have occurred since W declared "Mission accomplished!" Some accomplishment. Still, his incompetence doesn't seem to bother the majority of the electorate.

Worse is the collusion of the press. W held a press conference at CIA headquarters and no one asked W to explain how we can be so in control while suffering so many losses of life, limb and treasure. All he got were some softball questions on some of his favorite topics (National security and social security) and one giving him a chance to tell us how successful he and Condi were in getting the EU to play ball.

At least some of us actually know how to grieve. Too bad the commander in chief seems able.
