Our knowledge consists of a patchwork of statements describing reality from a variety of sources that have more or less persuasive power with us. The most credible sources for each of us typically have the most impact on what we accept as a knowledge claim. This is an abstract of the social construction of knowledge theory.

The White House seems committed to a radical version of constructionism. Apparently, they believe if those in power (not necessarily credible) simply repeat a knowledge claim, then it will be true.
